Imatek offers a comprehensively featured ‘high-end’
range of Drop Weight Impact Testers accommodating a wide
range of test applications from basic research through
to end-of-line quality control. At the entry level,
Imatek’s low capacity machines are ideal for testing
plastic films and plaques to ISO 6603. The much higher
capacity DWTT range (up to 120’000 J impact energy) is
used to test the impact and fracture properties pipeline
steel to API 5L3. The innovative horizontal impact
tester (HIT) provides a very compact and intrinsically
safe solution to medium energy impact testing.
A major feature of the Imatek DWTT range is the
high-quality instrumentation and analysis software that
provides detailed information, both graphical and
tabular, for the specimen failure. Whereas historically
the DWTT test method has not required instrumentation,
more recent research indicates that it is of significant
benefit when testing the tougher Xsteels.
Instrumentation enables crack initiation, and most
importantly crack propagation energies, for the specimen
to be determined which is considered a better measure of
'in-use'performance for these steels than visual
assessment of the fracture surface.
Video High Speed Camera System
An optional high speed, fully integrated video system
provides visualization of specimen failure mode.
Integrated High Speed Video is available for use with
any machine in the Imatek range or can be purchased as a
stand-alone system for use on other test machines and
equipment.
